Just getting started is honorable work

a runner on the starting block, tensed for the first stride

It’s booking the recurring 1:1 with your new hire, or your new manager.

It’s git init . or mix phx.new the_next_big_thing --live or rails new my_greatest_work.

It’s picking up the phone and dialing the number of one person in the market you want to serve.

It’s writing a throwaway sentence or three just to get your pen moving.

More than what you’re actually accomplishing in terms of a task, you’re going from not-moving to moving.

It isn’t the whole work. It’s not completion, and the danger is that it feels like you’ve done something, and so you’re done. You’re not. You’re just getting started.

And in that, you’re doing the hardest part. Now you just have to keep going.
